PLOTTERS FOILED
AFRICAN DISCLOSURES .TACTICS OF GERMANS CLASH AVERTED POPULARITY OF SMUTS Reed. Dec. 21, 2 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Dec. 20. Parties of police to-day raided German organisations in South-west Africa and visited the homes of officials and seized as evidence documents which, it is understood, reveal connection with the German Government.
Coincidentally the Prime Minister of South Africa, General J. C. Smuts in a speech, said that if the Government had not assumed control of the police of South-west Africa in April war might have broken out there instead of Poland. The Government received a grave warning from an unimpeachable source, whereupon it forestalled serious developments among the SouthWest Africans who were regimented and ready for anything. Germany followed the same technique there as in Austria and Czechoslovakia.
The press declares that the policy of General Smuts becomes more popular daily.
