DEATH OF MAORI BOY
A Maori boy, Leslie Martin, aged four, was drowned in the Mokauiti Stream, near Aria, Te Kuiti. After playing in a field near his home, the young boy left the other children, apparently to return home. Between the field and the house was a bridge without railings, and it is assumed that he fell into the water, which is five or six feet deep.
