SLACK AT WHAKATANE A medium yarding of station cattle came forward at the Wliakatane sale. The demand for two and three-year steers was not very brisk and a good proportion was .passed in. Female cattle, well grown and suitable for fattening, sold under much keener competition. Quotations: Three-year Polled Angus steers in good order, to £8; three-year Herefords, to £7 12s; two-year Hereford and Polled Angus steers, to £6; Hereford and Polled Angus empty cows,and heifers, £4 17s to £5 15s; heavy fat cows, £5 15s to £8 7s; lighter, £4 to £5 10s.
