D. A. Wells was appointed captain and P. H. Dow vice-captain of the Hawke Cup team. The appointment of a manager and the matter of arranging for accommodation were left in their hands.

A suggestion from the Wairoa Cricket Association to have a fixture in Gisborne on February 18 with a Senior B representative team and a return match in Wairoa on March 10 was approved tentatively. It was decided to make the Oval wickets available for any friendly matches played during the Christmas and New Year holidays. However, it was made clear those intending to take' advantage of the offer would be required to book the wickets with the groundsman, Mr. W. Parker, as early as possible before the date set down for the match.
