Sir, —Brave and efficient though our German opponents admittedly are, their “scuttling" habits must go down to history as a record —Scapa Flow, and now Montevideo! What is the psychology that induces these actions? Do they lack the “Grenville” touch, or do they lack the virtues of Iloratius as expressed in "The Lays of Ancient Rome?”
“To every man upon this earth “Death comcth soon or late. “And how can man die better “Than facing fearful odds “For the ashes of his fathers “And the glory of liis Gods." Can any student of psychology ex plain this apparent enigma?
