SUNDAY SCHOOL PARTY (Herald Correspondent.) T!ie members of the Ladies’ Guild entertained the Sunday School children and their parents at an enjoyable party in Matawai on Saturday night. A parade of decorated hats, cleverly designed by the children, was judged by Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Robb. Results were:—Girls.—Dulcic Taylor, 1; Marie Neverman, 2. Boys.—Claude David, 1: John Hustler, 2, Adults. —Mrs. Matches, 1; Mrs. Smith, 2.
The children played games and danced to music supplied by Miss Mortleman. The children were overjoyed when Santa Claus arrived with two bags of toys. Each child received a gift, and Sunday school prizes were awarded to the members of the Sunday School by their teacher, Mrs. C. V. Smith.
On behalf of the children, Maureen Pedersen presented Mrs. Smith with a gift. A delicious supper was served.
The adults present included Mesdames Smith, Tucker, G. Mortleman, Mills, Bulst, W. Mortleman, F, Thomas, C. Hustler, Neverman, Grant N. Thomas, W. Robb, and C. Matches: Misses L. Mortleman, B. Oswald, N Nesliaussen, and E. Lewis.
Some of the Maori children gave vocal items.
At the annual sports meeting Mr. W. F. Robb, chairman of the Matawai School Committee, presented a handsome book to each child for progress during the year. On behalf of the parents, Mr. Robb thanked the teachers. Mr. A. E. Ewen and Miss A. -A. Gilison, for their good work. A Parents’ League was formed, Mrs. H. Bulst being appointed convener for the first three months.
