Last Night’s Forecast General Situation: An anticyclone covers the New Zealand area. Forecast: Winds light to moderate and variable with sea breezes in coastal areas. Seas: In New Zealand waters, slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light and variable winds and slight seas in the central and northern portions, moderate to fresh northerly winds and moderate seas in the southern portion. Weather: Mostly fair to line and warm, some morning fogs are probable, however, possibly with some scattered light drizzle.

To-day’s North Island Report

Tauraoga was the warmest place in the North Island at 9 a.m. to-day, reporting 77 degrees. Cape Palliser, 71 degrees, Gisborne and Opotiki, 70, and Casllepoint, 09, were also well up in the list, and Wellington wrfs lowest with 04 degrees. Light winds, generally from the north and north-east, prevailed, and blue skies with passing clouds were general with the exception of Wellington and Opotiki, where the skies were overcast. Visibility was good to excellent everywhere, and seas were smooth to moderate, except at Wellington, where rough conditions prevailed. Midday Forecast General Situation: An anticyclone extends from Chatham Island across the North Island, but a depression is commencing to pass in the south. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds, with westerlies later freshening in the south. Weather: Fine end warm. Seas: Slight.
