FREDDIE BARTHOLOMEW IN •SPIRIT OF CULVER" AND “BIG TOWN CZAR" To-morrow's heroes are the boys of to-day! From the carefree ranks ot boys who now spend their lives in sport and play must come the men who will "run the world" to-morrow. How some or these boys are trained for leadership and courage forms the dramatic theme of Universal's "Spirit of Culver,” which opens to-day at the Majestic Theatre with Jackie Cooper and Freddie Bartholomew in co-starring roles. Told in fast-moving and graphic scenes, the screenplay shows what happens to Cooper, a homeless vagabond, when he is awarded a scholarship and given a chance k' prove himself at Culver. Freddie Bartholomew, who has abandoned his white Eton collar for a trim military uniform in the picture, has the role of Cooper's English room-mate. He is the young cadet who steeps himseli in the traditions and ideals of the famous school and helps Jackie forget his grudge against society. From 'he typewriter of one of America's most famous newspapermen comes Universal' ; “Big Town Czar,” the associate feature. Barton Mac Lane i as the title role in the film, written by Ed Sullivan, the columnist. The vivid story of a gangster chief who scales the heights of lawlessness is unfolded by Sullivan, who appears in the picture as himself. An added attraction for to-day and Ui-morrow will be the second chapter of "The Lone Ranger."
