ROADING PROGRESS TARNDALE METALLING REPORT BY ENGINEER (Special to t.hn Hurald.) TE KARAKA, this day. Tt e progress of road work and an indication of future plans were contained in a report submitted to the Waikohu County Council to-day by the county engineer, Mr. A. G. Lucas, who referred to proposals for a further stretch of metalling on the Tarndale road. The report stated:— Motu Riding“Motu Highway.—Good progress has been made on the construction of the concrete bridge over the Waiwhero Stream. The work is completed up to the wheelguards, and the main section of the handrail • should be poured prior to Christmas. "Koranga Highway.—The construction of the concrete bridge over the Koranga Stream is completed, and ear traffic will be allowed over prior to the holidays. “Matawai -Footpaths.—The footpaths have been cleaned up in readiness for sealing. Waihuka Riding "Front Road. —The contractor for the forming and metalling of 67 chains will be making a start after the holidays. “Oliver Road. —The plans have -been approved for the realignment and metalling of a portion of the hill. Mangatu Riding “Mangatu River. —A gang was sent up to break down the crossings, hut heavy rain undid the work. The big power grader was then sent up to put the river road in order. "‘Mangamaia Road.—The portion near Barron’s has been trimmed up ready for metalling. The metalling will he carried out after the holidays. Waipaoa Riding “Tarndale Road.—-Further proposals have -been submitted to the district engineer for metalling 153 chains. Ngatapa Riding "Taumata Road.—The grading up of this road is now under way. “Tahora-Te Wera Road.—This road has been graded and an alteration to the crossing attended to. Kanakanaia Riding “Kanakanaia Upper.—Tenders are called for the realignment of one mile of road near Parahaka. Karaka Riding “Fisher's Drain. —Cleaning out of the drain is still in progress. The work has 'been interrupted several times on account of too much water to contend with."
