On the eve of his departure from Gisborne to take over the managership of the Opotiki -branch, Mr. G. H. A. Hammond, formerly accountant in the Gisborne branch of the Bank of New Zealand, was met on Friday evening by members of tiro staff' and received a handsome presentation. Mr. H. E. Garth, manager of the branch, made the presentation, and referred to Mr. Hammond’s sterling services in this district, prophesying further successes in liis banking career. Mr. F. A. lVlcFadyen, who succeeds .Mr. Hammond as accountant at Gisborne, also spoke, congratulating the departing officer on his promotion, and wishing him every success in his new sphere. Mr. Hammond replied briefly, stating that he had had the utmost loyalty from all members of the staff, anti that his work in Gisborne had been made easier by that circumstance.
