OWNER AND SKIPPER WORLD SAILING TROPHY (Elpc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) ißecd. Dec. 18, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 17. The executive committee of the New South Wales Eighteen-Footer Sailing League has cancelled the registration of the Taree and expelled the owner, W. Scahill, and the skipper, B. Swiiibourne. The Taree is the present State champion and could not start in the championship on Saturday, in which she shared the lead on points. Scahill was expelled for not obeying a request to return the championship cup, and Swinbourne for unbecoming conduct at last Tuesday’s meeting in refusing to withdraw a criticism of the secretary, Mr. J. J. Gilteman. A cablegram from Sydney on November 29 stated that the Eighteen-Footer League might take legal action for . the .. recovery of the trophy. Swinbourn'e; was reported to have taken legal advice on the matter, ahd to liafe said that the Board of Control had not a leg to stand on. At a meeting of the local 18footers’ committee last Monday it" was decided to make no arrangements for the presentation of prize-money and trophy for the New Zealand championship until definite word had been received from Sydney .regarding the recovery of the cup. It was anticipated, said the chairman, Mr. Dennes, that the Sydney committee would take definite action this week. G. H. Stewart, c B. Scholium, b O’Brien 35 J. K. Somervell, b James .. .. 16 W. H.
