JOTTINGS FROM TRACK AND STABLE

AUCKLAND CUP . CATALOGUE MAY RUN BEAUPARTIR DOUBTFUL TEAM LEAVES, MONDAY By “Trenton”. j Contrary to a report published this week that Catalogue would be prepared for the Wellington Cup and not for Auckland, a message from Palmerston North, makes it appear as if the Auckland Cup may be his mission. The message states that he will be accepted for in the Auckland Cup and that there is every likelihood that he will race. His trainer, Mrs. A. McDonald, has stated that her candidates for Auckland will leave next Monday. Back To Form Friesland’s win at Woodville was a surprise, but' he had. been working well, and, in spite of lack of racing, was regarded as nearly as good as ever, although he came to light sooner than expected. As he is back to form and a good-class handicapper, he should be in line for another good race during the holidays.' Australian Bred Prime Quality’s dam, Lerrija, is by eluding event on the first day al Woodville in very solid style, had won only once previously, and that was rather unexpectedly in a high-weight handicap'at Trentham in January last, when he beat Golden Ridge and Charade. Now that he has come right, he looks sure to go on with it. Prime Quality was bred in Australia and is by Buoyant. Bachelor, who is by the Tredennis horse Bachelor’s Double out of the Sunstar mare Ocean Light. Prime QuQality’s dam, Lerrija, is by Saltash. Southern Contingent Expected to arrive at EUerslie today were a southern contingent including Moorsotis, Dona, Spartan. Stylish, Omapo, Paper Slipper, Great Swoop and Dictate. Back From a Spell After a spell extending over several months the hurdler Agog has been brought in again by I. Tucker. When raced last season Agog showed considerable promise over hurdles, winning on three consecutive occasions. He is only doing light tasks on the lead at .present.

Made Amends When a horse makes amends after a series of failures, it generally does in full measure, and this was the case with Little Dorrit, the former Gisborhemwned mare, who scored each day at Woodville. On the second day site won well in the Apprentices’ Race and may go on with it. Incidentally, her apprentice rider, F. G. Buchanan, was having only his second mount. When on the scales weighing out he was almost obscured by the saddle and gear, and the public gave him a great hand when he returned to scale after winning. In First Rale Order Few horses at Ellerslie are doing a better preparation than Beverley, and tile chestnut gelding has never looked fitter than he does at present. Beverley claims an engagement in the Auckland Cup, and it is intended to start him in the two-mile event. Manawatu Cup Rider Centrepoise will be ridden by P. Atkins in the Manawatu Cup. He has gone on the right way since his success in ths C.J.C. Metropolitan Handicap: < • ■ Wiggins Still Leads The positions in the premier jockeys’ list of the Dominion are as follows: — H. N.
