GOODS FROM POLAND CHANGE IN INCIDENCE GERMAN RATE APPLIES REVISING AGREEMENTS (Reed. Dec. 12, 3 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 12. The United States has withdrawn the most-favoured-nation tariff from imports from German-controlled Poland, the duties on which will in future be similar to those for German goods. It is understood that this constitutes defacto though not dejure recognition of the German control in Poland. President Roosevelt announces that he is asking Congress in January to extend the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act expiring on June 12. At present 20 agreements are effective. Three are being negotiated, the respective nations being Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Cuba and Belgium are discussing revision. The Washington correspondent of the. New York Times says that undoubtedly the administration is approaching one of its harbe-t battles and the' growing partisan • ’ 'x.sAion which is developing will be expressed in Congress by increased RepvM-can forces aided by conservative Demo ciats and also the pr >bability of relentless lobbying by the strongest pressure groups in the United States. Cattlemen and wool growers already have expressed opposition. Many manufacturers are expected to oppose an extension of the present form. A proclamation issued by the President of .he United States assigns Mexico a share, with other foreigners, of 3.8 tier cent of the United States oil imports. The quotas give Venezuela 71.9 per cent of the total imports, the Netherlands 20.3 per cent and Columbia 4 per cent. All others share the remainder.
