Books for the Transports

An urgent appeal to district associations to provide literature fbr the use of troops on ocean transports was received by the executive of the Gisborne Returned Soldiers’ Association last evening from the national headquarters, the request being made that each branch should make a collection of books and periodicals of suitable types, and dispatch them to Wellington at the earliest opportunity. The district executive decided to make a general appeal to the public, on behalf of the national association. Books and periodicals may be left either at the Gisborne Returned Soldiers’ Association office in Read’s quay, or at the Herald office, and the association will undertake the sorting, packing, and dispatch of parcels to Wellington.
