WAIPA MEETING

THE CUP AND SPRINT

AN EARLY REVIEW

SLY FOX FANCIED

OUR JEAN IS SMART

By “Trenton" The inclusion of a number of Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap candidates in the Te Awamutu Cup and Flying Handicap at the Waipa Racing Club’s meeting, to be held at IV; Aawamutu next Saturday, should attract a lot of interest. Tile Clip Knee Despite a rise of (ill), on the weight she scored with in tile Alison Cup, Golden Sheila will have to be seriously considered, as her form has been of the best. Sly Fox now meets Golden Sheila on 101 b. better terms than when he finished second to her in the Hamilton Handicap at Te Rapa. Despite a few failures, it must be admitted that Sly Fox lias raced well this season. If he gets a soft track he should be hard to beat, as he is as well as ever he has been just now. Llangollen can go the distance, and her form in sprint events points to her nearing her best. Flood Tide has been working very well since his third to Birthday Boy and Balinavar at Ellerslie recently.

Consistency has marked alt of Balinavar’s performances this season, for he has finished out of a place on only one occasion. Clicval do Voice should be a better horse now than when he ran second to Ivy Wiilonyx at Avondale last month. Dictate will probably come north after winning at Hororata last Saturday and will need to bo considered. Banin's second at Woodville was encouraging, and he lias not been out of a place in seven starts this season. He appears to be a very likely lightweight. Orate is also engaged in the open sprint, but lie has shown that a bit of ground is not beyond him. The Cardinal has been working well and a repetition of his Avondale Cup form would make him dangerous. Gladynev and Vaalso appear to be the best prospects of those on the minimum, as they have good form up to a mile to their credit. At this stage fancies may include SLY FOX, BARAN, BALINAVAR. The Flying Handicap There is a fine array of sprinting talent in tiie Flying Handicap. Suleiman is a class horse and his second to Arvakur was a fine elTort under the steadier of 9.10. However, Orate has lib. less Ilian Suleiman, and lie has won with 9.8 and was narrowly beaten carrying 9.13 Our Jean is brilliant and Orwcre has finished out of the money on only one occasion this season. Paddy the Itip, who recently returned from Australia, has been galloping attractively at Takanini. Blonde Princess i.s very smart and Foxmond put up a solid performance when he gave Hie field a big start at Ellerslie and then finished fifth. Young Paddon i.s galloping well and tile best of the others may be Sunola and Miss Te Koura.

A trio that may be respected jus now arc

OUR JEAN, BLONDE PRINCESS, ORWERE.
