At the annual meeting of Woolworths (New Zealand), Limited, the chairman, Mr. C. Scott Waine, told the shareholders that the proposal to create a separate company, to be known as Woolworths-(New Zealand) Properties, Limited, had been j abandoned indefinitely owing _to thedevelopments in New Zealand s financial position. He added that the company had experienced difficult trading conditions owing to New Zealand’s restriction on imports. Nevertheless the results had been very gratifying. The current year would probably be still more difficult owing to the impossibility of replacing many oversea lines.
