death at oi ;years A member of a pioneering Taranaki family, Mrs. Martha Smaller, iMour.t Albert: Atfcklafid. has died at the age of 91. .She was one of a family cf ICchildren whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Sampson, were among the earliest families to settle in iNaw Plymouth, where they arrived in 1842 in the Timandra. the fifth ship to carry .settlers to the district from England.

The death occurred in -Papakura on Sunday of (Mrs. Lillie (Burgess, widow of the Rev. G. .Burgess, F.'R.A.'S.. and Another of Major-General Sir (William Sinclair (Burgess, formerly General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military .Forces, and of Mrs. W. T. Shaw, sen,, and Mr. S. Hubert Burgess.
