TOURIST TRAFFIC
BLOW STRUCK BY WAR N.Z. OFFICIAL RETURNS The blow struck to world tourist traffic by the war is reflected in the return, to Auckland of Mr. A. N. Reid, who has been engaged in the overseas service of the New Zealand Government Tourist Bureau for the last five and a half years. He said the outlook for the summer tourist season was not encouraging, but there was evidence that Americans in particular would continue <o travel, though to what extent it was impossible to gauge. “I have not found any country which has a better travel service than New Zealand,” said Mr. Reid. ‘‘No other Government has a similar organisation, the service being undertaken by private agencies. Fiver, then they do riot excel New Zealand's effort, the succors of which is due largely to its officers being keen on their work, thus giving a personal service which is greatly appreciated by the overseas traveller."
