MARINE DRIVE

EXCAVATION WORK MECHANICAL TOOLS Authority to construct the Centennial Memorial Marine Drive across the board’s leading beacon reserve was given by the Gisborne Harbour Board in a letter to the Gisborne Borough Council, which met last night. The borough engineer, Mr. E. R. Thomas, reported that 13 No. 13 scheme workers are employed on the Marine Drive work. With the relocation of the road, additional excavation was necessary, and unless those interested in the project found mechanical means of undertaking this extra earthwork the present rate of formation and rubble-placing could not be maintained.
