CONTROL OF HOSES

TIME LIMITS PROPOSED WATER FOR HIGH LEVELS A suggestion that hoses should be used only at certain times of the day, so that residents in the higher levels of the borough would be able to secure an adequate supply of water, was placed before the Gisborne Borough Council last night. Cr. H. H. De Costa, who made the suggestion, urged that the use of hoses should be restricted to a period from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in order to prevent an excessive draw-off throughout the day. The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, said that the proposal was a good one, but he suggested that the council should concentrate on the use of unattended hoses and restrict them to certain hours. . There was plenty of water at present for normal purposes, but not for abuse by indiscriminate use of hoses.

The matter was referred to Ihe Mayor and the borough engineer.
