DRILL HALL REQUEST
NO REPLY RECEIVED DISCOURTESY CHARGE “It does not seem that they are treating us very courteously,” said Mr. H. H. De Costa yesterday afternoon at the meeting of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, when it was learned that no reply had been received from the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, concerning the renewed request for the provision of a new drill 'hall in Gisborne. The letter from the chamber had been sent to Wellington on December 1. Those present were Messrs. H. H. De Costa, chairman, C. Tilleard Natuseh, H. W. T. Buckley, F. W. Peddle, H. Gilmer, R. W. J. Edwards, H. R. Kendon, James Chrisp, J. C. Graham, R. P. Baigent, W. E. McIlwaine. C. W. Muir, M. F. Robinson, and the acting-secretary, Mr. M. J. White. An apology was received from Mr. F. Tolerton.
Mr. John Gerrard Bray was elected a member.
Before the meeting closed, Mr. De Costa extended Christmas greetings to the members and hoped that the dark clouds hovering over them would soon be dispersed and that the new year would be one of happiness and sun?shine.
