TOLAGA BAY PARADE EXCELLENT DISPLAY PRAISE FOR JUDGES (Herald Correspondent.) Beautiful weather favoured the boys and girls’ agriculture club show day held in the Tolaga Bay school grounds, a number of parents, friends and children being present. The High School pupils provided a delicious luncheon and afternoon tea for the judges and members of the committee. The judging of the calves and yearlings was carried out by Mr. C. Cooper, Patutahi, while Mr. E. Loisel, Tolaga Bay, was responsible fbr the lamb classes. In addition to the stock entries, there was a competition for the girls of the home club who had grown sweet-peas, which were judged by Dr. Weeks, Tolaga Bay. A sheep estimating competition resulted in a tie between Miss J.. Gordon and Mr. Thornton, whose estimates were 1291 b., the correct weight being 1301 b. The winners re-donated it i to the calf club for sale. Trophies were presented to the first and second prize-winners in each section, and a special prize was donated by Mr. Cooper for the best handled calf. Mr. C. G. Calvert, agriculture instructor. was present, and expressea great satisfaction in the general interest shown in the club movement and the excellent way in which the records were kept. Mr. O. G. James, chairman, expressed thanks to all those who had donated trophies, Messrs. Dobbs, Watkins and R. O. Bartram for the use of lorries Jor transporting the calves, and the Young Farmers’ Club for judging the plots. Mrs. V. Curry presented the trophies, which were awarded as under: — Calves August.—Type: W. Donald, 1; L. Dobbs. 2. Condition: D. Wilson, 1; A. Cranswick, 2. September.—Type: E. Dobbs, 1; B. Wa.tkins, 2. Cbndition: D. Wilson, 1; R. Donald, 2. Champion.—W. Donald. Handling.—L. Dobbs, 1; E. Dobbs, 2.•. Yearlings.—-D. Wilson, 1; E. Dobbs, 2. Judging Competition.—R. Lawrence, 1; J. Harries, 2. Lambs Longwool. N. Binnie, 1; J. Higgs, 2 Shortwobl—J. Binnie, 1; Jean Binnie. 2. Champion.—John Binnie; reserve champion, N. Binnie. Other Awards Record Books. — Pam Cranswick, and J. Harries, equal, 1. Sweet Peas. —H. Hale, 1; J. Kerney, 2 Champion Bloom. —Katie Bake. Plots. —R. Higgs, 1; A. Cranswick, 2. Special prize for school plots, donated by Mr. McCullough.—D. Wilson. Mr. Cooper addressed the children and advised them how to improve the method of handling calves. He also commented on the marked imprbvement in the class of calves exhibited.

Mr. McCullough thanked the judges and also Mr. James for donating the sheep for the weight-estimating competition. Mr. V. Curry, the secretary, was congratulated on the excellent work he had done in his term of office.
