LAND REVALUATION GISBORNE AND DISTRICT WAIROA BOROUGH NOW The past four years had been busy ones if or the staff of the Valuation Department in iGisborne, .for practically the whole of the Gisborne, East Coast, (Opotiki and Wairoa districts have been revalued. A revaluation of the Wairoa Borough is being carried out -at present, and when that task is completed the whole of the district under the control of the Gisborne office will have been done since 1936. Mr. 11. P. (Hamilton, Gisborne, commenced the Wairoa revaluation last week, and his task is to Ibe completed in time for ihe new valuations to be in the hands of the local authority for the new year’s rating. /The Wairoa Borough was last valued in 11934. Reviewing the progress made in the revaluation of the district since 1936. Mr. J. D. Hutchin, the officer in .charge of the department’s Gis'borne office, stated that .the counties and boroughs under the office's .jurisdiction had been completed in the following order: —

1936. —Matakaoa and Uawa counties. 'l937.—Gisborne Borough and Waik.ohu County. 1938.—iWaiapu and Wairoa counties and Opotiki (Borough. '1939.—C00k and Opotiki counties. The Wairoa (Borough was the only remaining area 'for revaluation purposes in the present series.
