LIFE-SAVING STATIONS

DOMINION COALFIELDS TWO MORE TO BE BUILT (Pnr Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Minister of Mines, the Hon P. C. Webb, announced to-day that the Cabinet had approved the construction of two additional lift-saving stations on the New Zealand coalfields, one at Ohai, in Southland, and the other in (lie Waikato district. The stations would cost £7OOO, which would be defrayed by a levy on production. The construction of the stations would be expedited, and both would be equipped with the most modern apparatus available. Mr. Webb said he hoped that the stations would never have to be used lor the purpose for which they were being procured, but at the same time the Government felt it should take all precautions against the loss of life and property.
