Victoria House Still a Shell

No practical work has been done yet toward the restoration or rebuilding of Victoria House, the five-storey brick warehouse in Victoria street, Wellington, gutted by fire early in the year. It is understood that lack of finance is causing the hold-up. Correspondence has passed between the city engineer’s department and the owner on the urgency that something should be done to make the premises safe, even if rebuilding is at present out of the question.

[Such of the cable news In this issue as is so headed has appeared in The London Times and is sent to this paper by special permission. It should be undei-stood that the opinions are not those of The Times unless expressly stated to be so.]
