FIRE BRIGADES
WAIROA DEMONSTRATION HOME AND AWAY SERIES (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. A fire brigade demonstration will be held in Wairoa on Saturday, January 27, the brigades competing being Gisborne, Wairoa and the newlyformed brigade at the lower development scheme at Tuai. The demonstration will be held at Lambton Square and so far cups for competition have been received, from Mr. D. Glengarry, W. Smith and Son, and the Stephenson Shoe Company. The shield given by the South African Veterans’ Association, for a two-men event among Wairoa firemen, also will be competed for. The demonstration is in the nature of a home-and-away competition, so that Wairoa will visit -Gisoorne later to compete for the same trophies.
