MEDICAL SERVICES
POSITION IN BRITAIN ORGANISATION PRAISED Praise for the organisation of medical services to deal with wartime conditions in Britain was given by Dr. W. Levings, of Sydney, who is visiting Auckland. Dr. Levings said hospitals were zoned to serve their own particular sectors, and staffed with specialised medical men, working under military control. Since the outbreak of war frequent practices were held to facilitate the handling of a large number of casualties .in the event of an air raid. Ambulances which were formerly commercial vehicles would often be called to pick up a group of men, who had been approached to act as “casualties,” and the whole procedure was timed.
“The medical services are well controlled, and if and when the need arises to use them, they have a perfect scheme, which will operate immediately and function without a hitch.” he added.
