NOVEMBER SUNSHINE
AGGREGATE OF 190.1 HR ABOVE 1938 FIGURES Although there was much overcast weather in November, specially in the latter half, the month proved 1 the (brightest Gisborne has experienced since March. The number of hours of sunshine aggregated 190.1, which is a shade higher than the tally for November, 1938, and considerably more than the total for October of this year. However, the September total fell short of last month’s figure by only .Ghr., or 36 minutes. Over the past three years the November sunshine readings have shown wide variance, the tally in 1937 being 254.9 hr., compared with 182.Kir. in 1938 and 190Jl.hr. in 1939. No fewer than 13.1 hours of sunshine were experienced on November 8, while four days, November 7 to 10, had an average of 11.8 hours of sunshine per day. However, later in the month there were four d'ays, including three in succession, on which the sun did not appear at all.

Totals 1902.1 1897.0 The temperature during the month ranged up to 78 degrees for the shade thermometer, tout there were some cold snaps in the first two weeks during which three light frosts were recorded. The earth temperatures last month were a shade warmer than those of November, 1938.
