NAVY LEAGUE FLAG

PRESENTED TO SCHOOL LORD GALWAY’S SPEECH (Ter Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The symbolical meaning of the flag of the British commonwealth of nations and the value of the Royal Navy to the commonwealth at all times and particularly the present, were referred to by the GovernorGeneral, Viscount Galway, at Kilbirnie School to-day, when he presented a Navy League flag to 159 pupils of the school in recognition of their enrolment as junior members of the league during the present year. Heavy rain necessitated the function being held indoors instead of outside as planned. There was a representative gathering of citizens to witness the ceremony. His Excellency, accompanied by Lady Galway, who was presented with a bouquet by the baby of the school, the youngest member of the league, Joy Hobman. The guests included the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, and Mrs. Jones, representatives of the Navy and ex-naval men, the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the Education Board.
