£IOO,OOO TO BRITAIN CIGARETTES FOR TROOPS (Reed. Dec. 7, 9 a.m.) JOH!AiNINESBUR'G, Dec. 5. The South African Mayors’ national fund is sending £IOO,OOO to Britain as the Union’s Christmas gift and also as the first monetary contrilbujt'ion for the prosecution of the w|ar. The fund is also sending 2,000,000 South African cigarettes as Christmas boxes to the British and French troops, after which it is sending 1,000,000 monthly. The fund, which is Union-wide, totals £200,000.
