Wool “Prompt” Day Some doubt appears to exist as to when “prompt” day will be for ivool appraised in Gisborne on November 24 and 25. In the ordinary course, payments are made 14 days following sale, but as the schedules for the Auckland and Gisborne wools were not made available until after the appraisements were effected it is not known whether the 14 days’ limit can be adhered to on this occasion. In the case of Auckland, the schedules of prices did not come to hand until more than 14 days after the first of the valuations were made. In comparing the wool values with those of the past season, Gisborne growers find that they are 30s per bale, or about Id per lb., better off than the difference shown in the average rates at the Napier sales and the average price being given under the war-time purchase, for not only are the freight and wharfage charges between Gisborn'e and Napier saved, but the brokers’ costs are paid now by the Government, the latter representing the largest proportion of the saving.
