TRADE STRANGLED CONTRABAND CHECK NAZI ECONOMIST’S VIEW REPETITION OF LAST WAR BUSINESSES THREATENED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) 'Reed Dec. 7, 9 a.m.) ZURICH. Dec. 5. Ilerr Emil Holfcrrich, one of Ihe most notable German economists, in an ar'Oivclc in Field-Marshal Goering’s periodical, "Five-Year Plan," admits that the British contraband control has strangled Germany’s export trade.
“Hundreds of German ships are trapped in ports throughout the world and huge quantities of goods awaiting shipment are piled up at. the larger German ports, and importers are unable to unload and store goods which might arrive,” says Herr HelXerrich. “The tragedy of the last war is being repeated. Firms have been unable to build up financial reserves owing to Jhe taxation and interest payments."
He adds that the Government must provide capital immediately to keep them afloat, release them from their rent obligations, and provide and find substitute business.
