IDEAL SETTING
ST. LUKE'S GARDEN PARTY LARGE ATTENDANCE FLOWER SHOW SUCCESS ; .(Herald Correspondent.) Ideal weather favoured the St. Luke’s parish annual garden party and fete held in “The Vicarage" grounds in Waerenga-a-hika on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of visitors and parishioners and the function proved one of the most successful yet held. The beautiful garden and lawns proved an ideal setting, and the wellstocked stalls, attractively set out under the large shady trees, were quickly sold out. Various competitions were held. The flower show, which attracted a record entry of high class blooms, and the needlework classes, a popular new section on the schedule, were held at the school, the judges being:—Decorative Classes: Mrs. F. Barker. Cut Flowers: Mrs. L. T. Burnard and Mrs. C. Bull. Sewing: Mrs. J. Evans. The judges in the flower section commented very favourably on the exhibits. A visit was paid to the function by the Bishop of Waiapu, the Rt. Rev. G. V. Gerard, who was welcomed by the Rev. R. C. Aires. 'His Lordship congratulated the. Rev. R. C. and Mrs. Aires and the church workers on the success of the function. His Lordship also inspected the Boys’ Brigade Company. The stall-holders were:—Afternoon, tea, Mesaames C. C. McKenzie, F.
