Jolly Children’s Party

Fun and frolic prevailed at the jolly party given by Mrs. R. U. Burke at her home in Northcote road on Friday afternoon for her three grandchildren, Timothy and Bridget Burke and Susan Scanned, the occasion coinciding with the birthdays of the two little girls. The weather was kind and the picturesque grounds—so admirably suited to such an occasion—presented a bright and animated scene. All sorts of games were enjoyed, and a garden of paper flowers was one of many attractions, the tiny guests delighting in picking the fascinating blooms. A fishpond was another source of joy, and races also drew large entries, each competitor being suitably rewarded.

A gay company sat down to a wonderful party tea in the garage, the handsome birthday cake forming an. effective centrepiece on the charmingly arranged table. The hostess was smart in a frock of bottle green linen cut on tailored lines.

Mrs. C. C. Scanned wore a becoming frock of lacquer red georgette, and Miss P. Burke’s frock of ice-blue flat crepe was accented with a brown shoulder flower.

Mrs. B. R. U. Burke, Ormond, chose a frock of blue cloque printed in a floral design in green, red and gold tonings. The children included Gerard Watson Bridgett Savage, Anne Kerr, Naomi and Juliet Hegarty, Mark and Jeremy Irwin, Alec and Sara Cameron, Jaquetta Nolan, Hazel Sibley, Annette Hutchinson, Juliet Mary Nolan, Priscilla, Dan and Kim Broad, Sally Ann Kemp, Audrey and lan Gray, Peter Rathbone (Hawke's Bay), Gillian and Roger Sherratt, Michael Black, Prudence Field, Toby Hine, Robin and Mary Ann Bruce, Paul Dobson, Pamela and Juliet Shield, Gerald Stock, Sidney Hain, Brian Holden, Robin Wells, Sara and Katherine Williams, Michael and Susan Dods, Anne Reeves, Simon Williams, and Jonathan and Josephine Graham.
