S.M., in the Police Court to-day and were each fined lfis and costs 12s. Scnior--1 Sergeant J. F. IT. Macnamara said that following a complaint the youths j had been interviewed by ConstabTfc ; G. Neale. The carcases of two opos- ! .sums were found in the camp in i which they were living for the sumI mer months. The boys had'shot'the animals, but had no idea that they were poaching. Mr. T. Alston Coleman, for the defendants, said they had been disturbed at night by an opossum and had shot it the " next day. They shot another at a neighbouring camp. It appeared that the owner of neighbouring land was trying to persecute the boys and make them shift camp. His Honour said he had no doubt that the defendants were ignorant of the offence and tiie fine would be a nominal one.
