OBITUARY
Formerly the doyen of Auckland insurance managers. Mr. George William Armstrong died on Friday in Epsom, within a few weeks of Inis ninety-first birthday.
A long association with the commercial life of New Zealand has been severed by the death in Auckland of Mr. David Robert Caldweii. in his eighty-fifth year. One of the founders of the firm of soft goods merchants with which his name has been associated for over half a century. his business activities are written deeply into the history of Auckland and the Dominion as a whole.
A pioneer of the West Coast of the South Island, Mrs. Alice Heslop. aged 8(1 years-, has died in Onehunga. SVe was born In Wales, and came to -New Zealand at the age of* 17. after the death of her parents. She settled in the Kumara district. Westland, and married the late Mr. John George Heslop. one of the first white settlers on ihe coast, who was county valuer for Inangahua for over 35 years.
