GISBORNE RAINFALL

WELL BELOW AVERAGE RECORDING OF 3.021 N. Rainfall well below the average for the past 60 years was registered in Gisborne for the 11 months of the year to the end of November. The total for the past month, 3.02 in., falling on 10 days, was slightly in excess of the average for the month, but did not assist much in building up the total for the year and so cutting down the discrepancy to any extent. For the same period last year .73in fell on 11 days. The rain registered in Gisborne at the meteorological ' station during November would have been much lower had it not been for the wet spell towards the end of the month. In the first 23 days 1.38 in had fallen, and then 1.64 in was recorded in the following four days. At the signal station 4.13 in was registered on nine days.
