Last Night’s Forecast General Situation: A complex depression- lies over the centre of tiie Dominion, but pressure remains high to the east, winds between north-east and north-west prevailing, moderate to strong from Nelson and Marlborough northwards and moderate but freshening • thence "southwards. Seas: Rough north of East Cape and south of Cape Egmont and about Cook Strait, elsewhere slight or moderate but mainly rising later about Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northerly to north-westerly winds, seas rather rough to rough. Weather: Fair to fine east of the Southern Alps, elsewhere cloudy to overcast and. in places, misty with rain in most districts; but more especially westward of the central area where further heavy falls are likely. Temperatures: Mild to warm. To-day’s North Island Report The east coast from Gisborne to Castlepoiiit was favoured with a blue sky and detached clouds this morning, other parts of the North Island experiencing overcast conditions. The breeze was from a northerly quarter, and in Auckland it reached a high wind. Heavy rain was falling at Tiritiri, and there was also rain at Auckland and Wellington. The barometer was rising. Temperatures at 9 a.m. were:—Napier. 72 degrees: Gisborne, 68; Opoliki, 67; Tauranga. 64; Auckland, 72; Wellington. 58. Seas near Gisborne were slight, and elsewhere moderate to rough. Midday Forecast General situation: A complex and very slowly moving depression extends from the west on to the Dominion.

Forecast: Fresh to strong north to north-west winds. Some scattered light rain probable, but weather mainly fair to cloudy and mild. Seas, moderate.
