LOWEST ON RECORD
RAINFALL IN WAIROA TOTAL FOR YEAR TO DATE (Special to tin! Herald.) WAIROA, this day. The indications are that 1939 will be one of the driest years on record in Wairoa. With 11 months of the year already passed, only 31.24 in. of rain has fallen and unless one or two fairly heavy downpours are experienced this month, the year will be the driest since the records were first taken in Wairoa in 1906. A total of 4.38 in. of rainfall was recorded for November, this figure being 1.50 in. above the average for that particular month. Last year’s November fall totalled only 1.42 in. To date this year 31.24 in. of rain has fallen, as against 66.51 in. for the first 11 months of the year in 1938. The average rainfall for the first 11 months of tht year is 45.87 in. Rain fell on 10 days last month, the following being the individual daily readings:—November 1, .Olin.; November 2, .00in.; November 4, ,13in.; November 5. ,04in.; November 12, 1.12 in.; November 13, ,20in.; November 14, .Olin.; November 23, 2.03 in.: November 24, ,64in.; November 26, ,14in.
