“UNREST IN SAMOA”

GERMAN RADIO CANARD DENIAL BY BRITAIN (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Nov. 30. It is authoritatively stated that a German broadcast reporting the unrest in Samoa is untrue and may have arisen from the fact that 15 proNazi German nationals have been transferred to New Zealand for internment. There have been no efforts at suppression because none has been necessary. The recent elections to the native legislative body passed off successfully and offers for local and overseas service, both from Europeans and Samoans have been numerous. ‘ Samoa is administered by New Zealand under a League of Nations mandate. These offers have not been accepted.
