“FIRST WIN WAR”
ATTITUDE OF FRANCE MEETING OF DEPUTIES SPEECH BY DALADIER COMMUNIST EJECTED (F.<v-c. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 1, Noon.) PARIS, Nov. 30. While the Prime Minister, M. Daladier, was reading a Government declaration on the occasion of the first meeting of Parliament since the war, deputies spotted a Communist deputy who had signed the anti-war manifesto sitting in his accustomed seat Members shouted in protest. M. Herriot, leaping to his feet, declared that apart from the legal position his presence was a scandal. Attendants removed the Communist while the deputies applauded. M. Daladier described the German use of mines as convincing proof of the failure of-the submarine campaign. The war was due to a systematic German effort to dominate Europe. It was not yet time to discuss peace aims. “Peace,” he said, “must be based on material guarantees extending to all free nations, but we must first win the war. That is our only object at present. The French have seen their lands ravaged in their own lifetime and are resolved that it shall not happen again ”
M. Daladier added that the French forces were strong enough to break the enemy attacks with minimum losses and certainty of success.
M. Daladier paid a tribute to the attitude of the United States, which knew that her arms would be used to defend her own democratic principles.
M. Daladier declared that it was possible that Germany would loose all her forces of destruction before a just peace was established.
“France will return blow for blow. If the destructive fury falls on our villages and towns we shall hit back at Germany with the same severity,'he said.
Ridiculing propaganda that Britain was not equally sharing the sacrifices with France, M. Daladier- pointed out that the answer to this was the speedy presence of Dominion forces on the French battlefields to fight for the common ideals.
