AIM OF SOVIET FREE-HAND POLICY j (Reed. Dec. 1, 9 a.rn.l NEW YORK, Nov. 29 The Berlin correspondent of the New York Times, Mr. Brooks Peters, says that the inevitable armed conflict between Russia and Finland seemingly indicated by Moscow's diplomatic rupture would find Germany wholly sympathetic with the aims 'of the Soviet. “The opinion expressed in the Wiliielmstras.se indicates that the Reich will maintain ,an attitude of benevolent neutrality, meaning that Germany will stand aside and allow. Russia a free hand since she feels, morally aligned with the Soviet, whose attitude to Finland is considered com-1 parable with the Reich’s viewpoint concerning the Rhineland under the Versailles Treaty,’’ states the correspondent. “Whether Russia and Germany will consult over the crisis in the north under their non-aggression pact has not yet been decided.”
