Mr. Frank Bradbury has severed his connection with Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Limited, Waipawa, after nearly 32 years of service, the whole of the time with the Waipawa branch, i Dr. Fisher, medical superintendent at the Waipukurau Public Hospital, expects to leave shortly for service with the military forces. Sergeant A. Doel has arrived at Gisborne from Auckland to fill the vacancy caused by the transfer of Sergeant L. T. Moore to Wairoa. Sergeant Doel will commence his Gisborne duties to-morrow.
Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P. for ,Wanganui, will go into camp on December 9. , His name is included in a list of 14 names of non-commissioned officers for the Second Echelon of the Special Military Force from the Wanganui district.
Mr. It. A. Falla, curator of the Canterbury Museum, has received advice that the degree of Doctor of Science has (been conferred on him by the University of New Zealand. The degree was conferred for his work on Antai'ctic (bird life. Mr. W. E. B. Froggatt, depot superintendent for the Vacuum Oil Company, Proprietary, Limited, in Gisborne, who has received notice of his transfer on promotion to head, office in Wellington, has arranged to leave for the south by the end of the year, being due to commence his new duties on January 3. Mr. R. W. Swift, who left Auckland three years ago, has completed a year of study in England at the British School of Telegraphy, where he has been training for the position of marine wireless operator. He has passed the Postmaster-General’s examination, and has been awarded the second-class certificate of proficiency in radiotelegraphy.
