PLANS FOR SECOND A.IF. READY BY SPRING SERVICE IN WAR ZONE (Reed. Nov. 30, 2.20 p.m.) CANBERRA. Nov. 29. The 'Australian Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Menzies, speaking in the House ol' Representatives, said that after the Second A.I.F. had completed its training in Australia, it will be given further training overseas and, by the time the European spring comes, it will take it-, place in the theatre of war. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. J. Curtin, moved the following amendment; “That the House is of the opinion that Australia’s man-power is required. for the defence and safety of the Commonwealth and is opposed to the dispatch of expeditionary ■forces.” The amendment was defeated (by 33 votes to 28, with voting strictly on party lines.
