FRENCH PATROLS DEEP IN NAZI ZONE ARTILLERY ACTIVITY GERMAN AIR SCOUTS (Elec. Tel. Copyright-—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Nov. 30, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 29. ■A night communique issued in Paris states that the day was quiet on the Western Front. There was some local artillery action.
•A French scouting patrol from the Bitche plateau area advanced between one and two miles into Germany before encountering enemy outposts. It is reported that fnc patrol brought back highly-valuable information.
According to the official Berlin news agency. French enemy artillery irregularly bombarded a hill south-west of Schneeberg and also the Castle Meinsberg district. “The German artillery was never at a loss for an answer,” states the agency. "The French, for the first time during the war, tried to disturb the Palatinate forest entrenchments.”
A message from Rome states that the radio announced that German reconnaissance planes had penetrated the south of France and also reached Paris, but were driven off. No bombs were dropped.
