Last Night’s Forecast General situation: An anti-cyclone centred to the east still extends on to the North Island, but pressure is now falling in the south, winds northeasterly continuing over most of the North Island and northerly lo northwesterly from Cook Strait southwards, moderate to strong generally; seas, slight to moderate inshore south of Napier and on the west coast of the North Island, rough elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Northerly winds, moderate in the north with moderate seas, strong to gale force in the south with rough seas. Weather: Unsettled in western districts and in the north and south, with rain at times; elsewhere, fair to cloudy. Temperatures: Mild to warm. To-day’s North Island Report With the exception of blue skies over Gisborne and East Cape, overcast conditions still ruled throughout fhe North Island this morning, when slight breezes to high winds .from the nort'h-east were reported. The barometer was still falling to-day. Temperatures at 9 a.rn. were as follows: Auckland 63 degrees, Tauranga 70, O.potiki 67. East Cape GO. Gisborne 56, Napier 64. Wellington 65. Seas were rough to moderate, except at Gisborne, where there was a calm. Midday Forecast General Situation: An intense anticyclone is still located to the east, but an extensive depression is moving from the west on to the Dominion. Forecast: Moderate to strong northeast winds, further scattered rain chiefly in the north, but for the most part cloudy and mild. Seas: Rough.
