SEED CERTIFICATION
PERENNIAL RYEGRASS CHANGES POSTPONED (Pt*r Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A decision to postpone amendments to the system of certifying perennial ryegrass seed until after the 1939-40 harvest, was announced last night by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin. The Minister said that as a result of the growers’ representations regarding the effects of introducing any amendments almost on the eve of harvesting, he again reviewed the position and arranged lor a postponement of the changes. “Growers should bear in mind, however, he added, that the amended regulations, as previously decided upon, will come into operation for all perennial 'ryegrass seed harvested after the 1939-40 season,” said Mr. Lee Martin. “It is considered that the rc-draftecl scheme will react ultimately to the benefit of the seed growers and the seed users alike and tlie postponement of the operation of the amendments has been made in the interests of the growers, whose programme for the season has already been mapped out.”
