The New South Wales Eighteenfooter League may take legal action for the recovery of the world championship cup from Mr. E Swinbourne, owner of the Taree. The league wants to send the cup to New Zealand for presentation to M G. Chamberlain, whose boat Manu was declared the champion last season Lr, the Australian board of control.
Mr. Swinbourne claims that the squashing of his appeal against disqualification in the 1939 title series held in New Zealand was unconstitutional.
The New South Wales League is seeking endorsement of its altitude from the Queensland League, members of which constitute the Australian board of control.
Mr. Swinbourne said he was determined not to part with the trophy. “I have taken legal advice on the matter. The board of control has not a leg to stand on.” :
