GIRL’S TRAGIC DEATH
“ABOMINABLE OFFENCE” WITNESS ASSAILED (Par Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. ‘Tt is a very sad thing that young lives should be thrown away by this abominable offence,” said the city coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. to-day, in returning a verdict of death from peritonitis following septic abortion in the case of an 18-year-old girl. The coroner assailed a witness, a hctel barman-porter, stating: “I think you are a hypocrite. You are the cause of this girl’s death beyond any doubt.” The evidence showed that the girl had been out with the witness referred to on several occasions and that she told a friend he was responsible for her condition.
