BURIED IN ENGLAND

JOHANNESBURG. Oct. 20,

The mirror which was ordered for the: ■■Radclifle Observatory telescope on the outskirts of Pretoria has been buried in a hole in the ground “somewhere in England."‘lt lias been covered with sandbags for protection. The fate of the mirror was revealed by fir. H. 'Knox-Shaw. the director of the Radcliffe Observatory. He was now investigating the possibility of having the mirror completed by special permission in England, or, failing this, in America.

The mirror, he continued, was insured for £OSOO. the premium being £4OO a year.
